Island hopping from Pulau Kapas,Lang Tengah,Perhentian in Kuala Terengganu

A few kilometres away from Merang Jetty you may find 4 Island which is quite near to each other.We may begin our island hopping from Merang jetty and go further up to that 4 island which is known as Pulau Perhentian,Pulau Redang,Pulau Lang Tengah and Pulau Kapas. It is actually about 25km away from Kuala Terengganu.Merang is a district of Setiu Terengganu .It has a small village which is very popular as a jumping point for visitors to go to Pulau Redang,Pulau Perhentian,Pulau Lang Tengah,Pulau Kapas and as well as Pulau Bidong.In this short and compact hub I probably will not enhance the characteristic of Pulau Bidong as to concentrate more on 4 island which is known as the visitors island for various activities such as snorkeling,diving,resting ,etc.

Most visitors who visit the 4 island with intention to dive to see the nature life beneath the sea.From Merang fisherman village we can get to Pulau Redang and the other Pulau by boat which we can actually wait at Merang jetty which is located a walking distance in Merang village .Equipped with toilet,eating place as well as ticket counters we may find Merang jetty is a convenience stop station to start our island hopping.

At Merang village most of tourists which having intention to do fishing they will stay in Merang village itself which is considered as a modern village with full infrastructures beside its good sightng and fishing centre.I got a chance to stay at Merang once and found it as a very good centre to stop by and stay for at least 5 days to start the island hopping by ferries which mostly will take below an hour to reach Pulau Redang,Perhentian,Lang Tengah and Kapas.Even though we can take a flight from Kuala Terengganu to reach that 4 island but visitors are keen to spend a few minutes by ferries to reach there.

Apart from being a transfer centre to islands around Kuala Terengganu Merang jetty also is full of beauty sight seeing which will attract most of newcomers to Kuala Terengganu.Its beauty surroudings is full of greeny scenery of trees and the blue turquoise sea color which made that stopping point as a wonderful centre to start with our great island hopping.

We may begin our island hopping with Pulau Redang which is exactly 40 minutes to reach by ferries from Merang jetty.Holding a few awards of prestigious Malaysia tourism,Pulau Redang becomes most chosen destination from tourist allover the world .White sandy beaches,brilliant underwater world,crystal clear blue color is part of the attraction at Pulau Redang.Beside its marine fishes,turtles and corals we may find Pulau Redang is the most beautiful scenery and spot area for snorkeling,and great scuba diving compared to their surrounding of 9 tiny islands which known as Pulau Lima,Paku Besar,Paku Kecil,Lang,Kerengga Besar,Kerengga Kecil,Ekor Tebu,Pinang and the main Redang island.

Turtle spot

Pulau Redang is a very popular spot for divers to see the turtle gazing for food inside its deep fairly sea which is considered by Malaysia Government as the wonderful attraction of Pulau Redang.Most of the turtles are from species of Green turtle,Hawkbill and Olive Ridleys.Beside triggerfish turtles here are the most beauty creatures found in deep sea of Redang Island.

Triggerfish

There are about 500 species who live near Pulau Redang and triggerfish is one of them besides flying foxes,pythons,birds,mousedeer and monkeys which we may find outside the sea around Pulau Redang.Most triggerfish here are from belligerant titan triggerfish (Balistoides viridescens) ,(Caesio caerulaurea) and yellow margin trigerfish (Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus).It is fun to be swarmed by hundreds of fish, especially the "friendly" Indo-Pacific sergeant and scissortail sergeant fish.

Coral

Coral also is part of beauty attraction we can find in pulau Redang.The coral are mostly in white,yellow and bleached coral.Eventhough most of them were affected by the sea nature but coral here can be seen as beauty as it seen because of great taking care of underwater life protection and prevention from Malaysian deep sea department.The coral which form most of the beauty underwater sight has its own bright seeing just like a neon which brighter our footpath and street.

Located about 40 km away from Merang Jettang we will reach Pulau Lang Tengah about 40 minutes by ferry and less than 10 to 15 minutes by boat.Pulau Lang Tengah also known as one of popular destination for visitors to do snorkeling and scuba diving.Beside their beautiful view Pulau Lang Tengah may offer a great vacation for visitors to stay a night or more at many resorts around this island.

Whale sharks and Manta Ray

A bit different notable attaction which can be found at a certain time along the year is whale sharks or manta ray.Ther are possibilities to see sharks at certain time along the year.The sharks here are mostly from leopard whale with many spots on top of its body.Terembu Kuning and Tanjung Nibung Laut are two famous spots for divers which offers a lot of wonderful marine life and beautiful coral as well.April to June is the best time to dive and the possibilities to touch the whale shark and manta ray at Tanjung Nibung Laut are bigger compared to other months.

Resorts

Visitors who come here just to see the beautiful sight at Pulau Lang Tengah may find ma ny wonderful and affordable resorts to stay and enjoy the beautiful sight of Pulau Lang Tengah at day or night time.Resorts like D coconut laggon,Lang Tengah island resort,Blue Coral island resorts are the most chosen and very popular resort to overnight at Pulau Lang Tengah.Equipped with comfortable room and facilities those resort may offer a great sight seeing from the resort itself.

Our island hopping will not be completed if we do not visit Pulau Kapas.A journey for about 20 minutes from Merang jetty is quite famous to tourist and visitors as a spot for sun bathing,swimming,fishing and snorkeling as well.A beautiful scenery of Pulau Kapas as soft as its name Kapas which is Cotton in English is very welll known as a place to relax and enjoy the sea life and wonderfu stay.

Chalets at Pulau Kapas

Apart from snorkeling activities we may find Pulau Kapas as a great place to stay and relax.Beside its beautiful scenery which is full of healthy forest along the beach we can have a great view also from chalets around Pulau Kapas itself.There are some chalets and resorts offering a package of trip and activities such as snorkeling,and viewing all around Pulau Kapas by boat which i found are suitable for newcomer to Pulau Kapas.The chalets here were build just like a Malaysian traditional house with some great modern touch inside.

Consist of 2 Pulau which is Pulau Perhentian Kecil and Pulau Perhentian Besar has made Pulau Perhentian as a last stop of our destination.A white dotted sand has made both of Pulau Perhentian as a beautiful stop for fisherman,divers and visitors to enjoy the wonderful beach scenery with remarkable sunset in the evening.

Years ago Pulau Perhentian is a place to stop for traders travelling from Thailand to Malaysia.As time goes by Pulau Perhentian no longer become the stop centre for traders because the modern transportation takes place and people no longer using boat to trade in Malaysia.

Traditionally Pulau Perhentian is a place to relax and to enjoy the white beach and crystal clear water for swimming with some simple diving has made this island as a place to enjoy the beautiful forest and deep breathing of fresh air from South China sea.

The wide area of Pulau Perhentian Besar has made this island as a place for snorkeling,deep sea fishing,kayaking,boating and water sports.Equipped with hostel,infrastructures,chalet,resort,hotel has made this island also as a great destination of heavy fishing for fishing lovers all over the world as well as the tropical and heavenly diving spot.

Pulau Perhentian Kecil

Even though there are only small population in Pulau Perhentian Kecil but this has made Pulau Perhentian Kecil a place to overnight and get to know the fisherman village and exploring the beauty of nature, mini marine life and traditional fisherman as well.Most of them lived here and made the fish as their source of living since years ago.

Most visitors who come to Pulau Perhentian Kecil with intention to swim and enjoying the most sandy area beside Pulau Perhentian Besar.

Appointed as a Sea Park of Malaysia has made Pulau Perhentian Kecil as a stop centre to enjoy the wonderful and amazing beach scenery as to relax and some mini family activities.
