Engine Hoist
71The need for engine hoist in automotive works
Engine hoist is the most important tool to lift the engine and heavy parts of a vehicle in automotive works. The need for the engine hoist will increase during automotive activities such as to lift,to assemble and to manage the assembling heavy parts of a vehicle. It is very much needed as torque wrench in overhaul activity, rarely use but quite useful.
Most of the engine hoist are used to lift the vehicle engine to proceed for actual activities of overhauling and reinstate the new parts of an engine problem. To manage the hoist obviously three automotive players are needed to control the crane stability for vehicle engine and gearbox lifting.
For 1 ton lorry and heavier ,the heavier engine hoist such as 2 tons ,3 tons and more will be used to balance the weight of the vehicle engine and gearbox lifting. To lift a vehicle gearbox ,sometimes extra players are very important to secure the gearbox from falling down during the activity.
Engine hoist actually consist of two stands, hydraulic pump and a short chain to hold the vehicle engine. For premium space we will need to use a smaller size of engine hoist. The hydraulic parts of engine hoist can be removed and replace with new.Hydraulic parts of engine hoist is to move up and down the vehicle engine and transmissions and it is very flexible in order to place the vehicle engine or transmission back to their place.
Engine hoist are being used widely in automotive works compared to chain blocks which are nowadays being used in warehouse or used part dealer garage. Most of engine hoist are very easy to move, convenience in work space and spare parts friendly.
Engine hoist and chain block-a comparison
There a few factor why most people prefer to use engine hoist in lifting transmission and engine vehicle rather than chain block in automotive works.
- The stability of engine hoist is more compared to chain block which is not ,for heavier item.
- Engine hoist parts consist of hydraulic pump which is adjustable to weight.
- The probability of chain block to slip during the works is higher compared to engine hoist which is lower in lifting.
- Lower cost of maintaining rather than chain block which is likely to store after facing a problem.
- Engine hoist do not need any extra item to support because it can stand by itself compared to chain block which likely to have other item such as strong wood or steel to place the hook.
- There are more choices of tons of weight for engine hoist in market.
- Most chain block has the ability to hurt the operator during works.
- Engine hoist can be placed anywhere in small space or larger space of works and easy to move everywhere in the work place.
- We need extra compartment to place chain block to carry with.
- Engine hoist life is much longer if the hydraulic pump is well maintained.
